What cookies and browser storage are
Cookies are small text files that a website saves in your browser. Browser storage, such as localStorage and sessionStorage, works in a similar way. This page lists everything this website stores, why, and for how long.
Language preference
When you choose a language, this website saves en, de or es in localStorage under orbis-language. The preference restores your chosen language on a later visit to the homepage and remains until you change it or clear browser site data. Direct links to other pages keep the language in their URL.
Your cookie choice
Your accept, reject or category selection is saved in a first-party cookie named orbis-consent for about six months, then asked again. This cookie only records your own choice — it is not used to track you and nothing reads it but this site.
Analytics cookies (optional)
With your consent, this website loads Google Analytics (GA4) and Microsoft Clarity to understand how visitors use it: pages viewed, general navigation patterns and, for Clarity, anonymized session recordings and heatmaps. Both are opt-in: neither script exists on the page until you accept the Analytics category. Google Analytics then sets cookies such as _ga and _ga_ followed by your measurement ID to tell visitors and sessions apart, and Microsoft Clarity sets cookies such as _clck and _clsk to tie a visit to a session recording. You can accept, decline or change this anytime from Cookie preferences in the footer.
Marketing cookies
Reserved for future advertising or retargeting tools. No marketing script currently runs on this website, even if you accept this category — the toggle exists so your preference is already in place before one is added.
Contact-form context
This website uses sessionStorage under the key orbis-enquiry-attribution to retain visit context, including landing and current page URLs, the referrer, visit time, previous page, language, time zone and campaign parameters such as utm_source, utm_medium, utm_campaign, utm_term, utm_content and utm_id, while you navigate in the same browser tab. Submitting the contact form sends this context with your enquiry so our team has some background on how you found us.
Duration and controls
Session storage generally lasts for the browser tab session; browser session-restore behaviour may vary. You can remove it, and any cookie described here, through your browser's site-data controls. When session storage is unavailable, the application uses a temporary in-memory fallback.
External requests
Some pages may request images or other resources from external hosts, and analytics scripts load from Google and Microsoft only after you consent. Those requests are separate from the storage described here and can expose technical information, such as your IP address and browser details, to those providers.
Changes to this page
We update this page when the storage used by the website changes. The Last updated date shows the current version. If we change the categories of cookies we use, we ask for your choice again.
